![]() ![]() One problem I had was that I was playing with a controller and the reticle is way too small. As for the puzzles, I managed to get around a few of them on my own, but there were also some incredibly obtuse puzzles that I could have never seen myself solving without a guide (opening door puzzle, language puzzle). Even with the sprint button, which I pretty much held down the whole time I was playing this, she walks a bit too slow for my liking. There is a storyline reason for this, but it still would've been nice if she could move faster. One thing that annoyed me is how slow the protagonist moves. The gameplay involves walking around areas and solving puzzles to get to the next area. For a game such as this, I was fine with this type of characterization, but I straight up only cared about the husband because I liked the protagonist and wanted her to be happy. The other characters are described through interactable objects and the protagonist's monologues about them. I liked her and found myself rooting for her in her journey. As this is a 3D 1st-person puzzle adventure game, there is pretty much only 1 character, the protagonist. The story is interesting at first, but I found it to be pretty unsatisfying when I got to the end. ![]() I highly recommend getting this game." ~DeathKillerNOR~ ⚠️ IN MY OPINION ⚠️Ħh 48m PlayedThis is the first 3D 1st-person puzzle adventure game I've played and beat. As it doesn't hit A Perfect Score, It is still an extremely good game. I enthusiastically recommend that you add these games to your to-play list. Positives: +Great art-style +Good take on Lovecraft's work +Well crafted puzzles with great resources to try to complete it yourself +Lots of writing for flavour in the log book +Subtle use of "monsters" and horror elements +5 Negatives: -Some of the writing fell flat with me in places -Chapter 4's last puzzle felt a bit weak and my first thought of what the puzzle was going to be felt like it was more interesting than what the puzzle actually was -Chapter 3 had a pathway draped in darkness that was also obscured by the ship, making me not realise there was entire other area before looking up a guide, a few lights or a more natural shape to the camp might have helped -3 7/10ĥh 46m Played ❌ Good Replayability. Recommend: Yes, if you're a big fan of puzzle games and want something that'll give you a bit of a challenge. Despite not liking the writing too much, it is definitely a great story with a decent plot that's related in part to "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" by Lovecraft himself. Both chapter 3 and chapter 5 had this issue in very small places. However a lot of the areas in the game expect you to explore everything first before engaging with a puzzle directly whether it be a cursory glance or actively trying to solve it as you explore the area. Some puzzles and areas felt quite tedious at times, though I could blame this on me finishing this game off after being quite sleep deprived. Lovecraft's stories are always lauded as being horror or at least unnerving, so it's nice when a piece of Lovecraftian style of work comes about and the gods aren't really the focus, it's the people that are more interesting. However the focus of a Lovecraftian styled game being about romance as well as a longing for a place to be was interesting. Playing as a woman searching for her lost husband is always interesting, I didn't much like their use of the pet name "old pal" for each other. Your character takes meticulous notes, that can help you solve puzzles and the log that gives some extra flavour to the events. I gave it 9/10.ĩh 12m PlayedI review games with all games starting at 5/10 (Average) and then deduct/add for negatives and positives: Overall Thoughts: Call of the Sea is a beautiful puzzle adventure game, with honestly quite challenging puzzles, but giving you great means to solve them yourself. the game has two endings, I had the change to save the game in the right time and watch both ending (its right at the end of the game, there is not gameplay in that part). I totally recommend to play this game, if not for the puzzles, for its story. The story in the beginning sound doll, but as the game advanced, it was really amazing, I really liked the endings. if the main reason a person would like to play a game is for its puzzles - please play this game. some of the puzzles were too hard, one took me more than an hour, another was too hard for me to solved (good thing I have internet), and some were relatively easy, but most of them were dissent, and I liked it. The graphics is great, it looks good, and there is no issue where, some parts of it looks epic, and the graphics adding to the cosmic theme of the game (no spoilers here). 10h 34m PlayedReally a great game, first person adventure game with good looking 3D graphics, different types of puzzles and an awesome story.
